2008 News Flash! As a part of
Celebrations, Indian Idol fame Amit Paul and live band will be headlining India Fest 2008. Amit is a versatile singer who can sing evergreen songs from the 60's and 70's as well as the new songs from the 90's later. India Fest 2008 promises to set new heights for Indian Cultural Arts programming in the area. Did you know? During the last five years, the attendance at India Fest has doubled to over 6,000, its budget has tripled to over $60,000 and the number of performers has quadrupled to over 600. India Fest 2008 has attracted over 800 performers who will present over 110 dance and music items. Did you know? That Nuv Yug is a non-profit tax-exempt 501(c)3 public charity. Cash or in-kind donations to Nuv Yug may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor. India Fest 2007, March 17-18, Raleigh, NC India Fest 2007 was the biggest ever in the history of Raleigh. On a cold and windy weekend, people from all descend poured into Dorton Arena in Raleigh to view splendid performances from local artists of Raleigh. India Fest attracted more than 6500 viewers, 570 participants and 85 different performances. And one world famous artist from India. It was Saturday evening and the House was full cause it was time for Usha Uthup with a live band. Usha Uthup and her troupe visited all the way from India for a special showcase at India Fest. Nuv Yug, the organizers of India Fest, has been organizing India Fest for the past four years. Every year, India Fest has increased attendance at a steady pace. This year's theme of "Scintillating Spices" was well arranged and enjoyed by all visitors. Liz Colt, publisher of Carolina Parent, quoted “It was a lot of fun - performances were great, food delicious and lots of shopping opportunities for music, books, clothes and jewelry”. For more information, please visit www.IndiaFestNC.org Feb 02, 2007 I would like to announce a new addition to NuvYug's team. Darshana Zaveri has agreed to serve on NuvYug's board. Darshana is a very active member of our community and has participated in many cultural programs in the area. I would like to welcome Darshana to NuvYug's Board. Thank you, Dec 2nd, 2006 I welcome Nandita, Vanita, Leena, Harshad, Ashish and Anshul to NuvYug team. You all bring new energy and new expertise to NuvYug's team. I am very happy that you all agreed to be a part of the NuvYug team. I am sure that your new ideas will steer NuvYug in an exciting direction. As NuvYug moves to 2007 and 2008, your contribution will be vital to the organization's grow. I look forward to working with you. I would like to announce that Rakhi will stay in her current role and serve NuvYug as the Arts Director. We all know Rakhi and we know that there is no role that she can't fill-in. She has been the back-bone of the NuvYug since its inception and she will remain the same. Rakhi will also serve as Treasurer on the board. Thank you very much Rakhi. I would also like to announce promotion of Usha to Vice-President. Usha has been on NuvYug's board for the past two years. She was a secretary for the past one year. She has done a fine job in capturing NuvYug's meeting minutes in her role. I am sure she will continue her fine job in her new role as well. Usha's term begins on Jan 1st, 2007. Until then, Usha will be a Vice-President-Elect. I would also like to announce that Neeta and Poonam will serve NuvYug as adviser on the board, starting Jan 1st, 2007. Neeta and Poonam have a lot of experience in Grants, Sponsorship, Cultural Program, Exhibition and Program Committees. NuvYug will count on their expertise. We appreciate all your efforts. Both have moved out of Triangle in the CY2006 but stayed very active to support NuvYug. It is their enthusiasm that keeps us rolling. I would like to thank both of them for their valuable contribution. Thank you Neeta & Thank you Poonam. We count on their support going forward. I have had a lot of fun in NuvYug for the past four years, I hope that you enjoy as much participating in NuvYug as I have. Starting new year, I will be moving to a new role and I will count on your support to make NuvYug a sustainable organization. I have simple message for all the new board members "Let's promote, preserve and share Indian Culture while having fun". Finally, I would like to thank Ujjwal to give me this opportunity and I will work very hard to take NuvYug to Naya Yug. Congratulations to all of you! Thank you, Nov 22nd, 2006 Nuv Yug's board has nominated Mehul Shah to be the next president. His term begins January 1, 2007. Mehul is one of the most senior members of Nuv Yug's team. He has been on the board since Nuv Yug's inception and was Vice President in the past. Mehul has a deep understanding of Nuv Yug's mission and our community. He is a very talented and motivated volunteer. We are confident that with his ideas and drive, he will further strengthen Nuv Yug's programming and contribution to the community.
