Nuv Yug's Go Green Initiative 2010

Welcome to Nuv Yug's Go Green initiative! We are taking numerous steps to be more environmentally conscious this year.

Some of our initiatives are listed below. We will continue to add more information here as it develops. If you can help us implement other similar initiatives, please contact Mehul Shah at (919) 465-2666.

The movement to Go Green started last year. All registration processes went paperless for India fest 2009. Stage performers, Vendors, Advertisers, and Volunteers used an online system. This was our first step. We have enhanced the system this year to introduce more automation.

This year, we are taking numerous steps to be more environmentally conscious and evaluating the impact of all our activities to the environment.

1. Decoration items will be recycled for the next year or will be donated to charity at the end of India Fest 2010.

2. Nuv Yug will be printing program book on recycled paper.

3. All paper tickets will be printed on the recycled paper.

4. Table covers will be converted from plastic to paper (easier to recycle after the event).

5. Food vendors will be asked to restrict use of plastic containers. Food vendors will also be serving in the recycled or recyclable containers.

6. Nuv Yug is working with Wake county high school students, Aneesha Sehgal, Shivani Garg and Kurren Mehta. These students have established a partnership with Wake County Environmental Services, in an effort to Recycle and Help Save The Earth.

These students decided that it was time to do something about the increasing litter and rising landfills in the Wake county area. This is a local and a global issue. They have initiated an effort that makes a recognizable difference in our local community. In striving to make a big impact and reach a large community, they have partnered with Nuv Yug’s India Fest 2010 that reaches approximately 8,000 people in the Triangle area annually.

At Nuv Yug’s India Fest 2010, recycle bins will be placed at key locations around Dorton Arena facilitating the collection of recyclables. These high school students will be making periodic announcements on the benefits of recycling. An information booth will be available for any questions.
